Celebrities; They’re Just Like Us: Criminal Record Edition
Lindsay Lohan, Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton, Khloe Kardashian, Will Smith, even Bill Gates. The list goes on and on.
Whether it’s a Canadian criminal record that they need to have pardoned, or a US criminal record that makes travel into Canada more challenging, they face the same issues as the rest of us. Sure, they might have better lawyers, but they can’t skirt the rules once convicted; the process is the same to be pardoned, the waiting period isn’t shortened, and (generally) the whole world knows about it.
That is to say that if you’re struggling with a Canadian criminal record, you’re not alone.
Mistakes happen regardless of how famous you are, and the most recently published government statistics show 3.8 million Canadians with an active record. Get a Canadian pardon however, and you’re likely to stay on the straight and narrow. Recidivism (re-offending) rates for those who have been pardoned are under 5%, a reflection of past mistakes being just that. A mistake.
At Suspend This we don’t judge. Our job is to help you and offer our services regardless of your criminal record or the offences it may contain. We understand that this is a private matter, and will handle your file discreetly. Unlike Justin Bieber, you won’t see your conviction on TMZ.
